Manor House

Manor House is probably Inner North London’s best-kept secret. A geographically small neighbourhood nestled in the most easterly corner of Finsbury Park. It holds a close-knit community of creative types who live and work in the little houses and warehouse conversions dotted along its streets. This is in contrast to the glistening tall towers of the Woodberry Down Apartments, a shiny new development that is home to those who prefer more modern surrounds and views of the city.

The area has a heritage of culture and creativity, with The Rolling Stones playing weekly gigs here in the early 1960’s as part of the Harringay Jazz Club. The area now accommodates artists, designers, photographers and musicians, as well as young professionals and new families, who are keen to take advantage of the excellent facilities, unusual housing stock, and more affordable prices. As a result, Manor House has come to be known locally as a hub for art and creativity. Photography, art, recording and theatre studios can be found among the Hackney Warehouses enclave. Contemporary apartments have popped up across the West Reservoir, beckoning more city types to the area (who also love the excellent transport links). There’s also excellent access to sports facilities including water sports, tennis and a skate park.

Transport: Manor House Station is on the Piccadilly line. Finsbury Park, with access to the Victoria, Piccadilly, Overground and National Rail lines is within walking distance. Buses run to Charing Cross, Hackney Central, Euston and Aldgate.
